Enzymatically n-octanoylated Serine3 of this 28-amino acid Ghrelin, also known as acyl-Ghrelin (AG), is the endogenous ligand specific for growth hormone secretagogue receptor 1a (GHSR1a). The GHSR1a receptor appears to be dedicated to Ghrelin and is widely expressed in different tissues.
